Resume Examples & Tips

  • Name should appear in the largest font.
  • Contact info (email & phone number) on one line below your name.
    • KEY TIP: Do Not include your street address; city name may be beneficial to include if you are in a major city or targeting a specific location.
  • Optional: LinkedIn, Website, or Portfolio link.
    • KEY TIP: Customized LinkedIn URL. 
  • MORE TIPS

List institutions, degrees, and majors and include graduation month and year. 

  • Optional:  Minors, certificate, modules, GPA, and relevant coursework.
    • KEY TIP: Related/relevant means it connects directly to the role to which you are applying.
    • KEY TIP: include GPA if job/internship has requirement .
  • Remove high school after sophomore year.  
  • Summary/Headline: First decide if this is needed or not. Tips on summary/headline.
  • Skills (Language, Computer, Technical). 
  • Course Projects, Interests, Awards, Memberships, Publications, Conferences. 
  • Reverse chronological order within a section.
  • One page recommended (for 10 or less work experiences).
  • Each font treatment should equal one purpose (i.e. Bold for company, Italics for role, etc.). 
  • Use consistency with bullet point & layout.
