School of Communication undergraduate students in seven majors along with graduate students in six master’s programs can add value to your organization.
EPICS offers employers targeted career services for the arts, communications, healthcare, sound, documentary, television, film and creative industries. This targeted access gives you a direct link to engaged students seeking internships and full-time, entry-level job opportunities.
Here is how:
- Share an opportunity | Post an internship, full-time, or freelance position in SoConnect. Want to know more about what makes for a great internship experience? Click here (links to Internship page) to learn more.
- Meet face-to-face | We offer multiple platforms for your organization including Industry Connect nights (networking), EPICS Connections (speaker series), Masterclasses (themed, small-group speaker events ), or treks (site visits to your organization). These events can be geared to all students or be focused on a particular group of students (links to the overview of programs).
- Participate in a career fair | Contact Medill Career Services or Northwestern Career Advancement as both offices host career fairs allowing employers to connect with students, recent graduates, and experienced alumni.

Overview of Programs
Below are the programs supported by EPICS. Click on each to learn more.
Undergraduate majors and minors
EPICS provides career programming for undergraduate students in radio, television, film, communication studies, dance, human communication sciences, performance studies, theatre. In addition to these majors, EPICS plays a key role in providing experiential learning and professional development activities for undergraduates in one of the 17 modular learning communities.
EPICS provides career programming and events for a number of School of Communication students. Most graduate programs students are required to complete a summer internship.
MA in Sound Arts and Industries
The MA in Sound Arts and Industries is a one-year master’s program for media storytellers, artists, designers, theorists and others who place sonic expression at the center of their practice.
MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage
The MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage was founded on the principles of art, craft, business, vision, and community.
MFA in Documentary Media
The MFA in Documentary Media program consists of diverse, driven, multi-faceted media-makers. Some create social-impact documentaries, others blend fiction and nonfiction. Still others embrace emerging technologies. Grounded in documentary, our program promotes experimentation with hybrid techniques and the latest distribution platforms.
MS in Communication
Northwestern University’s Master of Science in Communication program educates ambitious and inspired professionals to become more valued and effective leaders.
MS in Health Communication
The one-year, professional MS in Health Communication is a unique program that will prepare students to solve important problems in healthcare by applying theories, concepts and methods from the communication arts and sciences.
MS in Leadership for Creative Enterprises
Students in the MS in Leadership for Creative Enterprises program acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful leaders in Entertainment, Media and the Arts.
